The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) has launched a new whisky subscription service as the club celebrates in 40th anniversary this year.
The brand-new service, called Drop & Dram, will offer whisky enthusiasts the chance to receive a box of three limited-edition 50ml drams of whisky every month at a cost of £45. The box will also be accompanied by tasting notes, insights from industry experts, and stories surrounding each whisky.
Subscribers will also become members of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society by default, giving them access to member benefits such as exclusive bottles and special offers. Members also have access to events held at one of SMWS’s venues located in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London.
The first box available from Drop & Dram contains three 50ml samples of whisky from first-fill ex-bourbon casks. The whiskies are named ‘Tweed-Clad Picnic Hamper’ (a 2011 vintage from Braeval), ‘Shrimps In The Sauna’ (a vintage 2009 from Highland Park), and finally, ‘All The Fun Of The Flicks’ (a 2006 vintage from Benrinnes).
The subsequent boxes will have a different focus such as sherry casks, fortified wine casks, and other experimental cask types, delivering variety month after month.
