What affects the value of Yoichi Whisky
The label
Yoichi is owned by Nikka Whisky, as such that logo for Nikka sits on the cream-coloured or white label above text that describes the whisky inside the bottle i.e. “Single Malt Yoichi”. Below this are two Japanese characters that spell the name Yoichi.
In the lower right-hand corners of the bottle there is most likely a mark that looks somewhat like a stamp, and bears the text “Since 1934”.
The neck of the bottle has a wrap-around label that bears Nikka’s logo. The bottle is fairly straight but rounded as it gets nearer to the short neck of the bottle.
The bottle
Most bottles of Yoichi are a standard 70cl, and are a dark brown-coloured glass with a steep taper towards the neck of the bottle. The neck of the bottle is a consistent width.
The condition of the bottle is vital to getting a fair price for your Japanese whisky. The capsule should be in good condition, with no nicks, and the glass should not be scratched. It is best to keep your bottle in a dark and humid place to ensure good condition.
The box
Some Yoichi whisky has an accompanying box. The absence of a box – especially if the bottle in question is a limited edition bottling – can negatively affect the value of your bottle.
The condition of the box is also an important factor to consider. If the box is damaged then this will decrease the value of your Yoichi whisky. Boxes are always an asset for collectors, so if your box is in good condition then this improves your prospects of achieving a good price for your bottle.
The level
As with all whisky, the spirit level in the neck of your Yoichi whisky bottle is important and has a significant impact on the value. Ideally, the liquid should sit in the wide part of the neck. Lower levels, below the shoulder especially, will lower the value of the bottle.

Another result of the dwindling of aged stocks, age-statements are beginning to disappear from bottles of Yoichi whisky, as a result of different aged whiskies being vatted together in order to meet demand. We contact our extensive network of industry and private buyers who will make offers if they are interested in your whisky. We can broker sales internationally, ensuring your whisky reaches the largest possible audience.
Selling privately gives you more control over the process compared to selling at auction and ensures you get the best price for your whisky. Auction can sometimes be the best option, but commission often means there is a 50% difference between what the buyer pays and the seller receives.
Once all offers have been received we will contact you with the offers. You are welcome to discuss the offers with us.

Once you have decided to accept an offer we will issue you with a contract for the agreed price.
The contract is an agency agreement giving us the right to complete the sale of your bottle on your behalf. It is the same as the contract you would receive if you sold at auction, except the price is agreed and forms an integral part of the agreement. It outlines all our legal obligations to you acting as your agent and also covers payment terms.
Our brokerage fee is 10% for private sales, including VAT.
There are no other charges, except the courier fee if you decide to use that service. Please see STEP 4 for more information.

Once the contract has been signed you send your bottle to Mark Littler, you can arrange this yourself, or you can use our fully insured courier service.
Our courier service includes all packing material and is insured up to £40,000. It also includes a pre-paid return postage label and an instruction sheet on how to pack your bottle.
Once packed you simply drop the parcel at your local post office.
The cost for this service is £15.

We check the item is as expected and is in the condition you said.
We arrange to meet the buyer and deliver the bottle or bottles to the buyer and complete the sale.
Once the sale is complete your payment is sent via BACS, less any courier service charge, if applicable, and our fees.
