Let’s go through some of the awesome Macallan vintages on our shop and what makes each of them distinctive.

1967-1980 Vintages

Beginning in 1985, the boxes of the Macallan 18 Year Olds have the instantly recognisable blue strip along the bottom of the box, and a watercolour painting of Macallan’s Easter Elchies House. The vintage is displayed in gold foiling in the middle of the label, and the bottling date is printed at the bottom in black, bold lettering. The neck label on these bottles also displays the age statement of the whisky.

In 1992, the standard bottle volume was changed from 75cl to 70cl. Although the packaging didn’t change during this time, you can see the volume change on the bottom right-hand corner of the label.

The vintages we have available on the Mark Littler Shop between 1967 and 1980 are:

Macallan 1967 18 Year Old – £3,705

1981-1986 Vintages

In 1999 the Macallan 18 Year Olds went through a packaging change andthe vintages between 1981 and 1986 the whiskies were presented in tubes rather than boxes. The tubes feature a more saturated version of the Easter Elchies water colour, and there is a horizontal blue strip across the bottom of the tube.

The vintage is again displayed in gold in the centre of the label which is bordered in the same blue that is on the tube.

If you know a special someone that is celebrating a 40th birthday or wedding anniversary in 2024, then this would be a perfect gift.

We have a wonderful Macallan 1983 18 Year Old available on the shop for £2,585.

Until 2018, the Macallan 18 Year Olds were bottled in new-shaped bottles, more similar to the Macallan bottles of today, and boxed in sleek, purple boxes. We don’t currently have any of these available on the shop, but keep an eye out for any new additions to our range of Macallan 18 Year Olds.

2018-Present Bottling Dates

Last but not least are the modern Macallan 18 Year Olds, which are now presented in Macallan’s new and distinct bottles and boxed in a high-quality textured black box. The new packaging came into being when Macallan underwent a luxury re-brand in 2018 during which a new state-of-the-art distillery was built.

The modern Macallan 18 Year Olds helped Macallan to re-establish itself as a luxury distillery. Since this rebrand, Macallan has become the pinnacle of luxury Scotch whisky and broken records for the most expensive whisky ever sold

We currently have a Macallan 18 Year Old 2021 release available on our shop for £508.
