Speyside distillery Tamnavulin has unveiled a limited-edition 25-year-old single malt whisky to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026. The Tamnavulin 25 Year Old Moscatel Cask 60th Anniversary bottling is restricted to just 290 bottles and carries a recommended retail price of £260.
The whisky was distilled in the year 2000, during a brief period when the stills were refired amid a 12-year closure that began in 1995. That makes the spirit from this era exceptionally scarce.

Presented at cask strength of 51.8% ABV, the expression was matured for 20 years in American oak barrels before spending a further five years in a Moscatel cask. The distillery says the finishing period adds a delicate floral and bright citrus character to the whisky’s Speyside foundation.
Bottles will be available across Europe from April through specialist whisky bars, pubs and shops. The release will also be sold at Tamnavulin Distillery during the Spirit of Speyside festival, which runs from 29 April to 4 May.
The official tasting notes from the brand describe oranges studded with cloves, poached pear, creamy custard and a hint of balsamic on the nose. The palate offers dark chocolate covered raisins, bright citrus, heather honey and sweet liquorice. The finish is characterised by mandarin, roasted hazelnut and chocolate caramel ganache.
Tamnavulin, whose name derives from the Gaelic for “Mill on the Hill,” was established in 1966 in the village of Tomnavoulin in Speyside, Scotland. The distillery closed in 1995 but was meticulously restored and reopened in 2007. It has since become what the industry body the Scotch Whisky Association recognises as one of the fastest-growing single malt brands globally.
The distillery’s team described the bottling as “a celebration of our whiskies and the people that make them, each crafted with care by our dedicated, award-winning team who take a quiet pride in their whisky that is loved by whisky drinkers across the world.”
They added that the aim in 2026 “remains the same as when our distillery opened in 1966: to create the perfect Speyside Single Malt Whisky – smooth and fruity.”
Speyside is home to more than half of Scotland’s malt whisky distilleries and is renowned for producing characteristically sweet and fruit-forward spirits. The region’s temperate microclimate and abundant water sources are considered ideal for whisky production and maturation.
