Easter Elchies is the ancestral home of Macallan, and so unsurprisingly it has been used as the namesake for a few different series. Easter Elchies Seasonal Selection was the first; released around 2005 to 2007 these seasonally themed releases were highly limited edition bottles available exclusively to visitors to the distillery. The Easter Elchies Cask Selection is a series of six single cask, cask strength releases released between 2008 and 2013. The Cask Selection bottles are distinguished by the different coloured ribbons on each box, sealed with a matching wax stamp. Macallan’s Easter Elchies Black was introduced in 2018 as part of the celebrations for the new distillery and there were three releases.

Macallan Easter Elchies: Market Analysis
The different Macallan Easter Elchies series continue to demonstrate robust performance at auction despite the overall cooling of the whisky investment market since its 2020-2022 peak. Analysis of recent sales data reveals several notable patterns across different markets.
Variations in price between the different eras of the early Easter Elchies series are pronounced. Easter Elchies Cask Selection bottles are significantly more commercial than the others. The 2009 Cask Selection 1995 vintage and 2008 Cask Selection 1996-1996 both command substantial premiums over later vintages. Thanks to their scarcity these vintages have maintained a value around £6,000-£7,000 depending on auction house and frequency of sales. The more recent and less scarce Easter Elchies Cask Selection 1997 and 1999 releases typically sell in the £2,000-£2,500 range.
Despite being earlier releases, the Seasonal Selection bottles vary from around £800 to £1,600 based on the age of each release as well as the condition of the bottle. The Easter Elchies Black releases are significantly less scarce than the original releases and tend to sit around £500 to £800 at auction in 2025.
Regional performance highlights a continued UK and European dominance. However the limited US auction data suggests there could be a modest premium, though increased shipping and import duties often neutralise this advantage for sellers.
How to Sell Your Macallan Easter Elchies?
As the data above shows, it is important to choose the right time and place to sell bottles of Easter Elchies Cask Selection, Seasonal Selection and Black. Not all auctions can generate the same results and choosing the right place to sell is important.
If you complete the contact form above, we can connect you with a specialist auctioneer who will provide a free, no-obligation valuation and expert advice on selling your bottle. The best whisky auctioneers will offer a free of charge collection service if you have a number of bottles, or even offer access to their own courier service if you just have a few.
Auctions often take place each month and commission varies from 5-10%+VAT and listing fees. The benefits of auction are a near guaranteed sale (if the reserve is sensible) and a quick payout after the sale. The auctioneer will advise on a suitable reserve in advance of the sale.
Alternatively, you may consider selling to a retailer. However, retailers typically offer around 30–50% of their listed price due to factors like VAT, corporation tax, and slow stock turnover, which can impact their buying decisions more than you might expect. If you sell to a retailer you will be expected to post the bottle to them yourself, although they might help with this too. Payment terms will be quick, but you will likely have to contact around 5-10 retailers to ensure you get the best possible price.
