It might surprise you to learn that one of the most important actions you can take is to capture high-quality images of your bottles. This ensures we can offer you the best prices and accurately appraise your bottles. Here are our top tips for submitting images of your bottles:
- Stand the bottle upright so that we can clearly see the level of the whisky in the bottle.
- Do you have the original box? If so, place it next to the bottle in the photo.
- Capture the images in a well-lit room, ideally against a neutral background.

The History Of Akkeshi Whisky
Akkeshi Distillery is still in its infancy, having only started distilling in 2016, but the distillery is working extremely hard to produce unique whisky at its location in the north of Japan. The distillery sits near to the sea in the town of Akkeshi on the island of Hokkaido. The proximity to the sea means that the whisky takes on a salty, briny character.
In 2013 Akkeshi purchased batches of raw spirits from two other Japanese distillery in order to age-test them. Construction on the distillery began in 2015. The process was complicated due to the fact that the land beneath the distillery is weak soil with a layer of peat underneath. When the distillery was built production began. The warehouse quickly filled up, and so a second warehouse was built to house Akkeshi’s stocks.
In 2018, Akkeshi released its first product, named Akkeshi New Born “Foundations 1”, and also released its first peated malt named Akkeshi New Born “Foundations 2”. A third warehouse was also built. 2019 saw more releases: Akkeshi New Born “Foundations 3” Matured Malt and Akkeshi New Born “Foundations 4” Blended Whisky. The distillery is moving at full speed ahead, so watch this space for more releases from Akkeshi.
