Following the release of our YouTube video all about the Macallan 25 Year Old Anniversary Malts, we are excited to announce that we currently have two available for purchase on our online shop; a 1962 and a 1972.
The History of the Macallan 25 Year Old Anniversary Malts
The Macallan 25 Year Old Anniversary Malts series began in 1983 with the release of a 1957 vintage. The youngest vintage in the series is 1975, and this was released in 2000. From 2000 to 2004 Macallan released a couple of non-vintage Anniversary Malts (75cl and 70cl) which are thought to contain whisky from the missing vintages in the series; there are no 1960, 61, or 73 vintages in the series.
2004 signalled Macallan’s shift in focus towards their Triple Cask series, and so the Anniversary Malt series came to an end. In the subsequent years the value of the Anniversary Malts has risen substantially. Bottles that could be purchased for under £30 in the 1980s now sell for up to £5,000 at auction.
We have also written an in-depth investor’s guide to the Macallan 25 Year Old Anniversary Malts, where we can go into detail about the performance of the bottles at auction, and how older Macallan bottlings compare to modern Macallans in investment terms.
