Kingsbarns Distillery has released ‘The Dunvegan’, a limited edition single cask single malt whisky inspired by one of golf’s most celebrated post-round destinations. The bottling, priced at £120 and limited to just 750 bottles, is the second in a golf-themed series developed in collaboration with the Dunvegan Hotel in St Andrews.
The release follows last year’s inaugural bottling, ‘Caddies’ Dream’, which sold out quickly. Developed by Wemyss Family Spirits, the family-owned business behind the distillery, this latest expression is bottled at 46% ABV from a single sherry butt.

The Dunvegan Hotel has long been regarded as the unofficial ’19th hole’ of St Andrews, welcoming generations of golfers after their rounds. Celebrity visitors over the years have included Clint Eastwood, Bill Murray, Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer.
Peter Holroyd, Distillery Manager at Kingsbarns Distillery, said: “This release captures something genuinely special, the moment at the end of a round when stories are shared and memories are made. There is a natural connection between whisky and golf, both rooted in patience, craft and tradition. By working with a venue so closely tied to the game, we have created a dram that reflects that shared heritage in an authentic way.”
He added: “This is not just about flavour, it is about place, history and the experience that surrounds both the whisky and the game.”
Lucy Fotheringham of the Dunvegan Hotel said: “We have welcomed golfers from around the world and some of the most famous faces in the world like Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods through our doors, all looking to reflect on their round and share a dram in a place that understands the game. This collaboration encapsulates that experience in the glass.”
Official tasting notes from the brand describe aromas of treacle cake, toffee and baked apricot tart, complemented by candied orange zest. The palate brings flavours of pineapple sweets and pickled ginger, while the finish offers pastry and baking spices.
Steve Johnston of the PGA and Scottish golf influencer said: “This iconic partnership celebrates one of the game’s most storied traditions, with a single cask release that captures both rarity and a true sense of place. It’s a whisky shaped by its surroundings, designed to be savoured and shared after a round.”
The whisky is available exclusively in the UK through the Kingsbarns Distillery website and its visitor centre. St Andrews has been recognised as the spiritual home of golf since the founding of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club in 1754, and collaborations linking the town’s whisky and sporting heritage continue to attract strong collector interest.
