The Glasgow Distillery has launched Global Games, Glasgow Spirit, a city-wide campaign that sees some of the city’s best-loved bars create exclusive drinks using its spirits during the Commonwealth Games. The collaboration runs throughout the Games and features venues including Òran Mór, Howlin’ Wolf, Malone’s, Bag O’Nails and Cùl Cùil.

Each participating bar will offer a limited-edition drinks menu built around the distillery’s full range of spirits. The serves give visitors and locals the chance to sample Glasgow’s independent hospitality during one of the busiest periods in the city’s calendar.

The campaign marks the return of the Commonwealth Games to Glasgow. The city last hosted the multi-sport event in 2014, drawing athletes and spectators from across the Commonwealth.

The Glasgow Distillery has designed the initiative to spotlight both its own portfolio of spirits and the wider bar community. Organisers say the aim is to celebrate the people and places behind the city’s drinks scene.

As part of the project, the distillery will visit each venue during the Games. It will produce a series of short films and social media content sharing the stories behind the bars and the people who run them.

Libby Barmby, Marketing Executive at The Glasgow Distillery, said: “Glasgow has such an incredible hospitality scene and this felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate it. We’ve loved spending time with each of the venues involved, hearing what they love about the city and seeing the creativity they’ve brought to their own serves using our spirits.”

She added: “For us, this campaign is about much more than showcasing our products. It’s about championing the people and places that make Glasgow such a brilliant destination to visit. Over the coming weeks we’ll also be sharing the stories behind the venues across our social channels, celebrating the personalities, passion and pride that make Glasgow’s bar scene so special.”

The Glasgow Distillery was founded in 2014 and produces spirits including whisky and gin.

With thousands of visitors in Scotland for the Games, the campaign encourages people to explore Glasgow’s independent venues while enjoying serves created exclusively for the occasion.
