
Douglas Laing & Co. has launched The Epicurean Peated Edition, a limited small batch Lowland malt Scotch whisky that introduces a subtle peat influence to the brand’s traditionally fresh and bright spirit. The release, limited to 1,800 bottles globally, became available from specialist retailers and selected international markets on 10 April 2026 at an RRP of £50.
The bottling marks a first for The Epicurean range, which has built its reputation on bright, citrus-led Lowland character. Rather than overpowering those delicate qualities, the gentle peat influence is intended to add earthy warmth, structure and refinement.

The Epicurean Peated Edition is bottled at a natural cask strength of 50.5% ABV. It contains no added colouring and has not been chill-filtered, allowing the natural character of the whisky to come through fully.

The official tasting notes from the brand describe soft earthy peat smoke on the nose alongside thyme, green apple and toasted barley. The palate delivers honeyed cereal and malt, leading to smoky embers, peppery warmth and a touch of oak spice. The finish reveals drying peat smoke and a gentle ashy quality, complemented by lemon peel and a whisper of vanilla.
The release is presented as a bottle-only edition without accompanying packaging. This stripped-back presentation reinforces what the brand describes as the quiet sophistication of the whisky.
Douglas Laing & Co., the independent Glasgow-based family-owned Scotch whisky company, has produced The Epicurean as its signature Lowland blended malt. The range sits alongside other regional malts in the company’s portfolio, including The Timorous Beastie and Scallywag.
The Peated Edition broadens The Epicurean’s flavour spectrum while maintaining the Lowland identity at its core. It is available across selected international markets through specialist whisky retailers.
