If you’re lucky enough to own a cask of Macallan, it’s probable that you bought it from Cavendish Wines anywhere between 1990 and 1996.
It’s also probable that the vintage Macallan that you own is either 88, 89, or 90. These were sold by Cavendish Wines for the princely sum of around 2,950 pounds for a hogshead, or around 6,000 pounds for a butt or a puncheon.
Now you’re a very lucky person if you own one of these still because the value has increased dramatically since when you first purchased it.
Again, you’re a very lucky person already, but you’re even luckier if it says on the paperwork whether it’s a sherry cask or not because sherry casks of Macallan are the most sought after in the market and especially fresh fill sherry casks.
If your paperwork says it’s a fresh fill sherry cask, or it’s a butt or a puncheon, and then these casks are going to command a huge premium over any other casks of Macallan.
